DESIGNING FOR CLARITY

Design Brief: Develop a typographic system for a multi-page document to showcase the typeface Frutiger. Present your research in the form of a saddle-stitched type specimen book.

Designed by Adrian Frutiger in 1976, the typeface Frutiger was developed to be used for the directional system at the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. Taking this into consideration, I wanted this book to resemble the visual style seen within an airport. I kept the design minimal: using large headline text, a two-color palette, and black and white images. I also took into account that Frutiger is a multi-lingual accessible typeface. I used French subheads, and highlighted multiple languages throughout the book to show the versatility of Frutiger.
